We first established a social support mouse model and found that a robust stress regimen induced decreases in early neurogenesis, atrophic morphology of the existing neuron in the hippocampal dentate gyrus, deficits in hippocampus-related memory and aggravate the acetic acid-induced writhing. We, then, found that the presence of such social support may buffer the stressed animals against most of the afore- mentioned decreases, deficits or increment of visceral pain. However, such social support may serve as Virgil leading us walking into vicious drug addiction cycle. We further demonstrated the involvement of nasal epithelial system in support detection and that dentate neurotrophic factor (BDNF) secretion and intracellular signaling of pERK are, in part, responsible for preventing the stress-produced effects albeit a minor role of corticosterone in this regard. Moreover, using this model we characterized the species-, sex-, age-, and dose-dependent social support. Furthermore, the presence of airborne oxytocin, an endogenous pro- social hormone, may substitute for the social support in this regard. Finally, we surprisingly noticed that long-term stress with psychological aspect of control favored, rather than attenuated, adult new neuron formation and the functional roles of the new born neurons. 敬請準時出席,謝謝。 |
