Regulations for the Master’s Degree Examination
【Application Timeline】
1. Please submit the application at least one month before the oral defense.2. Application deadlines for Master’s/Doctoral Degree Examinations:
o Fall Semester: Online application deadline is January 20 (due to departmental pre-processing, please follow the Department’s announced schedule). Oral defense results must be submitted to the Registrar’s Division by January 31.
o Spring Semester: Online application deadline is July 20 (due to departmental pre-processing, please follow the Department’s announced schedule). Oral defense results must be submitted to the Registrar’s Division by July 31.

【Steps Before the Degree Examination】
Please complete the Degree Examination application in the following order:1. Confirm whether you have completed the graduation credit review at the Department Office for the current semester.
o Complete the Graduation Qualification Review Form (Department of Psychology).
o The Department Office will contact the Registrar’s Division to request/issue the graduation review transcript/record.

2. Submit the application via the Graduate Degree Examination Application System
3. If you wish to apply for a Thesis Embargo (Delayed Public Release), you must submit the request before the oral defense through the “Application/Change” procedure in the online system.

4. Submit documents: Please submit the following documents to the Department Office, and register the oral defense schedule and venue reservation.
After the Department Office receives the application documents, it must complete internal processing and generate required documents, and then submit the hard-copy application to the Curriculum Division, Office of Academic Affairs. The oral defense may proceed only after approval and final authorization by the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Once the oral defense schedule is confirmed, please submit all materials to the Department Office as soon as possible.
(1) 【Degree Examination Application Form】: The Thesis Advisor’s handwritten signature is required.

(2) 【Turnitin Similarity Report】:
Conduct the similarity check via NCKU’s thesis originality/similarity-checking system and print the page showing the similarity percentage.
o Student: sign and fill in the date and student ID number
o Thesis Advisor: sign and fill in the date
o If there are co-advisors: all co-advisors must sign
(3) 【Certificate of Recognized Academic Ethics Education Hours】:
For Master’s/PhD students admitted from Academic Year 111 onward, this certificate is required when applying for the Degree Examination. The recognized hours are based on courses completed after enrollment.
【Notes Before the Oral Defense】
1. Please make sure to provide the 【Turnitin Similarity Report】 and send the thesis draft and abstract to all internal and external committee members for review. The similarity percentage page must include the student’s and Thesis Advisor’s signatures and dates.2. If changes are required after the application is completed (e.g., thesis title, defense date, time, committee members), please submit an 【Application for Changes to the Degree Examination】 at least 5 days before the oral defense. After obtaining the Thesis Advisor’s signature, submit the change form to the Department Office.
3. Before the oral defense, please collect the following from the Department Office:
o 【Thesis Review Fee & Transportation Reimbursement Claim List】
o 【Committee Member Appointment Letter】 (If a committee member has already served in an oral defense during the current semester, an appointment letter will not be issued.)
4. Please download 【Oral Defense Score Sheet】 and 【Oral Defense Suggestions】 from the designated link and print copies according to the number of committee members.
5. Print one copy of the 【Degree Examination Thesis Evaluation Form】. All committee members must sign, and the overall score must be filled in.
6. Print the 【Thesis Certificate】: Do not submit it to the Department Office. Bring it on the defense day for committee members to sign.
7. Committee members’ thesis review fee and transportation reimbursement will be transferred to the committee member’s post office account after reimbursement processing. External committee members are requested to provide 【a post office account number or a bank account number (please specify bank name, branch name, and branch code)】.
8. Each Master’s student may claim NTD 250 as miscellaneous expenses (snacks, stationery, photocopying/printing). Receipts/invoices must include the University tax ID number 69115908. The date, item name, unit price, quantity, total amount, and tax ID must be clearly stated. For photocopying, please attach itemized details or sample pages.
【Notes on the Defense Day】
1. For the 【Thesis Review Fee & Transportation Reimbursement Claim List】, please ask committee members to confirm whether the transportation reimbursement amount is correct. If revisions are needed, please cross out and write in the correct amount.2. After the oral defense, please submit the following to the Department Office together with the 【NTD 250 receipt】, after committee members have signed/sealed:

o 【Thesis Review Fee & Transportation Reimbursement Claim List】
3. Please keep the 【Thesis Certificate】 for your own record for future uploading requirements.
4. For miscellaneous expense reimbursement, please bring the receipt/invoice to the Department Office to claim cash.
【Notes After the Oral Defense】
1. Please revise your thesis according to committee members’ recommendations. Before binding/printing, prepare the 【Thesis Certificate】. After obtaining the Thesis Advisor’s signature, submit it to the Department Chair for signature, then scan and upload it to the Library system for review. As the review takes 3–5 working days, please allow about one week for uploading and processing.2. After approval, you may print the thesis. Please submit the final 【Turnitin Similarity Report】 (the similarity percentage page must include the student’s and Thesis Advisor’s signatures and dates) and two paperback copies of the thesis to the Department Office (one copy will be collected by the Department Office on behalf of the Registrar’s Division). The Library clearance procedure requires one paperback copy.

3. After completing the above steps, please proceed to the Leaving-School Procedures System, fill in the required information, and print the leaving-school form. Follow the steps to obtain stamps: 1)Department Office 2) Library 3) Registrar’s Division
After completing the process at the Registrar’s Division, you may receive your diploma.
4. When obtaining the Department Office stamp, you may submit the thesis at the same time.
【Other Notes】
1. Oral defense results will be compiled by the Department Office and submitted to the Registrar’s Division. The deadlines are January 31 (Fall Semester) / July 31 (Spring Semester). Please allow the Department Office about 3–5 working days for processing. If you must hold the oral defense on January 31 or July 31, please inform the Department Office in advance so that preparations can be made.

3. The latest deadline for completing leaving-school procedures is one working day before the start of the next semester. You must complete the procedures before the semester begins and receive your diploma.
