📌 大綱Abstract:
Transcranial Focused Ultrasound Stimulation (tFUS) is an emerging, non-invasive neuromodulation technique distinguished by its high spatial precision and ability to reach deep brain structures. Compared to established methods such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and deep brain stimulation (DBS), tFUS offers unique advantages in spatial resolution, depth of penetration, and exceptional safety profile, positioning it as a promising tool for both basic neuroscience and clinical translation.
This talk will survey the current understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying tFUS-induced modulation of neural activity, highlighting evidence from both animal and human studies. We will discuss how tFUS can influence cognitive, sensory, and affective processes, and its potential therapeutic applications in neurological and psychiatric disorders.
A key focus will be the role of nonhuman primates as a crucial translational model, bridging fundamental neurophysiological insights with human clinical research. Their use enables validation of stimulation parameters, targeting precision, behavioral effects, and safety regulation—essential steps in advancing tFUS from experimental investigations toward effective human therapeutics.
